Dante’s corner

Its been a solid year I have to say, when I started this blog I never thought I’d get this far in such a short amount of time (80+ posts). I believe I’ve developed significantly as a writer and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some good people, who im proud to call friends. I haven’t been posting much and i’d love to say its because I was recruited for the Justice League, spending time in the Bat Cave; but its due to pre-planning, for my (super cool) sister’s wedding, among other things. With all this moving around I might not get the chance to post any time soon (merry christmas in advance, oh and a happy new year) however I hope to see a lot of creative pieces when I get back. For now all my attention will be focussed on making sure my sister’s wedding is Legen- (wait for it…)

Just, remembering …

2djs3RGI remember the days when people used to take the time to write a letter and send it to the Post-office; and the recipient, knowing full well that it’d take days or even weeks for a letter to get to its intended destination would pour their heart out on paper; marking every detail as clearly as possible. With texts and chat, the playing field has had a serious do-over, immediate communication prompts effortless responses, and unfortunately with every emerging generation the words in texts just keep getting shorter.

I asked anonymous once, “why do people rid the alphabet of its job?” and the response I got was, “We do it to save time” … … …Yes, because putting a single ‘y’ in ‘My’ will surely shorten your lifespan …

Call me a detail freak, but honestly, I’d rather chat with someone who uses proper wording, than someone wHu T0Ks LYk Th!S.

On the bright side: those who can’t spell have an easy out …

1000 wonderful people!

To be honest I’ve never had so many followers and it brings me great joy knowing people actually look at what I write.  It might not be  much for others because they have 14 000+ followers, but to me, it signals progress. I began Blogging 7 months ago, and I’ve met a lot of lovely people since then; it truly is an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. whether the follower counter goes to 980 or 1001 after this post does not matter, I’ll continue to do everything I can to keep my readers captivated.

Many thanks to the people who supported me, from the bottom of my heart.

Boarding – Gate Something

Hey everyone,

Its been a crazy four months of writing; I wish it was all poetry though; those assignments always find a way of making their presence known. Oh and lets not forget the exams that kept playing tag team with the rest of my course-work. Never-the-less, its been an interesting experience.

I’ll be moving to a new place temporarily, and while I’m there, I’ll unfortunately not be able to post as frequently as I usually do. However, I believe this ‘break’ will give me time to reflect on a lot of things happening in my life. I’ll continue writing though, that way I’ll have more to post when I get back.

If you happen to find the time to visit my blog and read some of my old posts please leave a comment and tell me what you think; it would mean a lot to me.

Otherwise I hope everyones’ week is going well, mine certainly is; the reason for that will be revealed later on…

“Oh, no, suspense!?”

(*gasp!*) =O

DUN-DUN-DUUUUUN!!!

Virtual Blog Tour – The WordPress Express.

First of all, I would like to thank Neha for featuring me on the Virtual Blog Tour (VBT). It’s such an honor, especially because her work is very creative and truly inspiring; If you are looking for a blogger who’s not only consistent but provides diverse content you should check out her blog as soon as possible. Here is the link http://forgottenmeadows.wordpress.com/

The usual formula for the VBT is to feature three bloggers, and this is not easy considering there are a lot of talented writers to be found here. At this point, many bloggers I know had already been featured, as a result I only had two people to feature for the VBT:

BenjaminSolak  : Are you looking for  motivation or words that will give you zeal to conquer the day? well BenjaminSolak is the blogger for that. His work makes you think about life overall and overcoming obstacles that hinder our day-to-day lives. He also puts a lot of work into his posts, and that is something I’ve always enjoyed about his blog.

Krista’s Blog : Krista is a very honest blogger, always relaying her thoughts and emotions about the world as she sees it. Her blog provides a new perspective to writing that I haven’t seen in others and I believe that helps her stand out. She devotes her heart to poetry and makes it no secret that she loves writing. Check out her blog, there is a lot of interesting content to be found.

Now the following are questions I’m supposed to answer relating to my writing process, this should be interesting. 🙂

1.) What am I working on?

At the moment I’m working on quite a number of projects. In my last post I mentioned the short-novel I’m writing titled Broken Pieces; the first chapter will be released soon. I’m also working on a set of poems with my friends, I’ve been looking to collaborate with as many people as possible over the coming months. This is in an effort to explore different styles of writing; I’ve always believed that I can learn something new by writing with someone else. (side note: me and ‘a very special someone’ are planning to collaborate on an entire anthology in the later future)

2.) How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I believe my work to be a part of me. Every time I write something it has to link with actual events that occur in my life. I might write about the moon, the sea or the sun, but an aspect of that will always relate to something happening in my life.  The link might be in one sentence, but one thing is for certain, it always has to be there.

3.) Why do I write/create what I do?

I write because I like the thought of someone else reading my piece and enjoying it. I especially love putting a little twist and witnessing the reactions that follow. I always want to think of something original; to make people think in a way they haven’t before. In the end, what mainly drives me to write is the joy it brings; my best form of escapism.

4.) How does your writing creative process work?

I usually brainstorm titles, no matter how dumb they might sound. From there I take the one I find interesting and leave the rest for later. My drafts are always hand-written, I enjoy having a tangible copy of my work at all times. If I don’t brain-storm titles I write what comes to mind, sometimes it works on the first shot; but sometimes, well, an editing marathon ensues.

And that’s all ladies and gentlemen, thank you for taking the time to read this VBT, it means a lot. Please check out the featured bloggers when you have the time. Enjoy the rest of your day. 🙂

Setting up.

Status Update:

Hey everyone, the hiatus was purely intentional, I wanted to set up a proper schedule for my calendar that would make it easier for everyone to know when I was going to post my next piece of writing. So the next time I disappear it wont be because I am slacking, but because I don’t want to post randomly with no real direction. I used these last two days to refine all the pieces I have already written; Expect nothing but my best.

I hope everyones’ week is going well so far.

The Life Of A College Student.

A week full of frantic research, had to do an assignment which was due today. Balancing research for an assignment and my passion for writing poetry, a lot was surely taken out of me this week. I have a lot of material planned for my blog in the upcoming days; and another assignment ironically enough. There are also a few stories and poems already planned out, so you can look forward to that.

At The Starting Line.

Status Update:

I only recently started blogging in an effort to share what i write with the world, the main aim was to escape my comfort zone and get to see what other people (besides my friends) thought about what i write. I needed to see what random people who don’t even know me would think; because i wasn’t sure if my friends were just trying to make me feel better. Having experienced what the blogosphere has to offer, i am not disappointed, in fact, i’m wondering why i didn’t start blogging much earlier. It has only been a few days and i feel right at home, the poems i’m seeing are truly awe inspiring, there is a lot of talent to be found here and i’m looking forward to reading what everyone has to say. The people are very welcoming, within the first few hours i felt accepted, i felt a strong sense of belonging as people told me they liked what i was writing.

To those following my blog, i’ll try my best not to disappoint; I put effort into each piece i write, every line is meant to captivate; no followers will be taken for granted. I look forward to seeing the comments, especially the criticisms; i believe telling me where i’m lacking is vital for my development as a writer, and i’ll always listen. Recently i was given the Liebster award and that made me feel good, i felt a strong urge to pick up the pen and attack pages of my drafting book ferociously. I plan to get to know more people, considering i’ll be here for a long time, the journey has only just begun.
