Poetry, To Me (2)

Poetry.

What is it,

But a sequence of words

Tethered to bring about greater meaning?

What is poetry, but a portal into a world beyond human comprehension?

Each line inked cements its worth,

I graciously place one above the other

Like I’m creating an agate stone.

Wisdom embedded is re-current

Yet it goes unheard —

— Much like the b in subtle —

— Poetry sneaks up on you

With a message — an image,

That takes a moment to notice.

Much like the shape of this entire poem:

“Oh, look. A crooked home”

  1. I really love the wittiness and hidden symbolism in your writing, Dante! This was such a delightful piece to read because for poets we really feel poetry at such a deeper level, sometimes it is full of meanings and sometimes its meaningless but it is truly a magical portal for escapists like us. It is a sequence of words stringed together to define something and yet remains undefined under layers and tones of imagery and aesthetics.

I am so in love with this heartwarming line. It brought a smile on my face. I have been taking a hiatus from WordPress but it makes me happy to see your brilliant works and I am glad you have maintained your streak of writing and your dexterity.
